Well, not too long ago we wrote a post about the sad lack of a Bit.ly app and now it would appear that someone was listening. Although the mobile enabled web page was a great resource for shortening links and getting stats for your bitmarks, now the most popular URL shortening service on the web has released an app for iPhone and iPad.
The app makes it easier to save, search, and view your “bitmarks” from your phone. I’ve had some issues since downloading it this morning. It seems to force close on me far too often but when it does open it works well. Clearly bit.ly is trying to transition into a social bookmarking service beyond their simple URL shortening service that has made them popular. The app makes it easy to share your new “bitmarks” on Facebook or Twitter.
Check it out and let us know if its working for you!
